Just when I was settling in to my 5 year old's current symptoms (mainly OCD), he shocked me with something odd and out of the blue. Actually, when he first had PANDAS symptoms, he presented with extreme anxiety that involved wanting to go to heaven. He asked lots of questions about heaven in general and seemed overly obsessed with death/heaven. All of that stopped within a few weeks and his symptoms have been mainly OCD type permission asking things, and issues about food.

This afternoon, I saw that "I'm on the verge of tears" worried look on his face. He asked me if bad guys were in Heaven--I told him no...still no relief. Next he said, mom, when I see those red spots, are they good or bad? I asked him to tell me more about the red spots (size, shape, do they move?) and he said he didn't want to tell me, but he wanted to understand what they meant. The only other thing I got him to tell me was that the spots are about the size of basketballs and he doesn't see them all the time.

This was completely out of the blue and odd. Has anyone ever had something like that??

Did he say if the spots were new or if they have been there for awhile and scared to tell you?

Some parents have said their children experienced floaters.

My son, at one time, freaked out that he was seeing bugs on him. He was screaming, hitting himself, etc. to this day, I don't know what he saw. Whether they were floaters he interpeted to be bugs, hallucinations, etc. Luckily, it happened only once or twice and never again.

Our son has had floaters and has complained of them on more than one occasion. I just explain what they are and tell him once he gets better they will get better. He seems happy with that explanation.

Before my dd8 was put on antibiotics, she saw blue and green dots and flashes of light. They have gone away with treatment so I assume it was the strep and pandas symptoms.

He hasn't mentioned them before, and I really think he would've if he had experienced something like this. I had never heard of the term "floaters" before, but I googled it and it totally makes sense. Thanks for the input!! I will give him a basic explanation and I think that will help tremendously! :)

First PANDAS symptom for ds5 was that he made a streching kind of face and told me he was trying to get rid of the "big black ball" in his eye. Rushed him to every kind of speicilist I could think of and they found nothing. He was botherd by it and kept asking me to "wash it out with a wash cloth".

He still makes that face (his tic) but does not talk about the spot any more. I think he just got used to it. He also knows that it is part of his PANDAS, so he sort of just accepts it without worry. (we told him about PANDAS from the beginning and he is comfortable talking about it with us and with others)

His twin brother (also with PANDAS) pulls at his eyes often and says there is something inside like an eyelash that he is trying to get out. His eyes hurt him.

I read a while back that a symptom of PANDAS can be visual disturbances.
