justinekno Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 thank you! When I did it last summer, i received the kit w/in a week.
jayjay Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 thank you! When I did it last summer, i received the kit w/in a week. The kit does come pretty quickly and the results were within a couple of weeks after they received the sample. Although when we sent ours they were shut down for a few days because of an ice storm, so it could be faster than that. They were very nice and went out of their way for us.
marilina Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 I've sent an e-mail to dr.Cunningham yesterday..... can anyone say to me please if the lab DOES NOT send kit oversea? (I'm italian) thank you all

thereishope Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 For those overseas, do you have a doctor that is on board with you? Perhaps if they contact Dr Cunningham? part of the problem is probably shipping blood overseas back to her. For those overseas considering doing the test...what is your purpose for the test? Are you in doubt of PANDAS or is there a lot of gray area that makes you doubt a PANDAS diagosis? If you have a clean cut case of PANDAS and a doctor agreeing your child is PANDAS and willing to help, I think it's okay for overseas kids to pass on it. jewels, who are you seeing in the UK? I believe there is a hospital out there seeing PANDAS kids.
jewels Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Hi Vickie, We are seeing a fantastic, experienced, Ped. The first onset that we had with dd he witnessed. He gave her a steroid blast and noticed the reduction in symptoms. We then had a go on abx which also had a positive result. Every attack makes her regress years, and then she's back to normal many weeks later and Ped also notices this too. Our UK Dr is VERY governed by the National Ins. of Clinical Medicine and as such ALL PANDAS children have to be medically treated with TS medication etc. It was only an immune system related kidney infection that we managed to get the long term abx, however we still cannot get the high daily dose that is given in US. At present I am in contact with PANDAS drs here to assist my Ped with treatment and to support him if questions are asked by the powers that be! You have to take care of the good Drs here. I thought that the extra test would support our dr more, and I also wanted to poke it somewhere to someone at our dds school as we are having a nightmare with them. I am usually a very gentle person, but the school just pushes those buttons in me. They are very concerned about how dds absences look on their school status. I cannot post my reply that I gave to the school! I'm working on the theory that everything helps Jules

I believe there is a hospital out there seeing PANDAS kids. usually we send blood overseas for texts like RBC, etc....so I don't think shipping is a problem.... I am not in doubt of PANDAS but here in Italy nobody is curing PANDAS because the 99.99% of doctors does not know what PANDAS is... so we have a contact, and maybe I can to IVIGs, paying them, BUT I have to show some text results . the only proof I have is that the symptoms improve with antibiotics. I'm going to do the routine tests, but specific tests as you can do in America, here in Italy we have not. so I'm trying to do them with dr.cunningham
dut Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Hi - you could try Kathy Alvarez, she works with Dr Cunningham and we have done all our corresponding with her with regards the test. Here's her e-mail kathy-alvarez@ouhsc.edu :-)
