Help! (from those who've already done Cunningham lab)

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the responses... I have called the walk-in clinic where all of us are "established" patients and talked to their lab... the woman I spoke with told me to call back tomorrow to speak w/ a particular lady... but she said she doesn't think they will do it because they work with Labcorp and if it's not a specific test then they don't do it... but she said to call back tomorrow because she's not 100% sure on what they can do...

I asked about making an official appt. w/ a doctor and bringing my kit in to get an order for the lab... and she interrupted and said it doesn't matter if I have an order, but that it needs to be a test that Labcorp will do?? I don't even understand that, really....

Forgive this... but WTF is up w/ Labcorp? Do the freakin' control every drop of blood drawn in Knoxville, TN? I'm willing to pay a draw fee right then and there... This is not for some weird purpose... "HEY LABCORP... IT'S A RESEARCH STUDY... GEEEZZZZZZ!!!!!!"

When you call Labcorp tomorrow, make it clear that you are not requesting that they run a test...you just need a draw and spin- the test will be run by the lab in Oklahoma. It sounds like they think you are requesting a test that they can't run.

Just had the same problem today with LabCorp. I ordered a kit from Direct Labs to run my son's Food Sensitivy IGEs. The direction from Direct Labs say to only use Lab Corp for the blood draws, but we had the run around when we got there.... they finally agreed to draw the blood after showing them our paperwork. Here is the next problem... they wouldn't let us take the bloodwork and the kit with us to mail!! They have to mail the kit themselves due to Florida Law. No blood leaves the office. So we had to go back home and get all the shipping material and docs. What a pain.

We went to the lab at our local hospital. The only issue they had was trying to figure out the proper way to bill for doing the draw. They performed the blood draw, spun it and even packaged it for me. From there I went straight Kinkos to FedEx it back. They were very nice and helpful. Good luck!!!

That is exactly what happened to me. They were very willing to do it but had trouble with billing and paperwork. Once that was taken care it was smooth sailing.

I had to scope out a number of different places because my dd has an intense fear of hospitals and I wanted to find a place that didn't feel like one. I found a list of places on our local (Salem, MA) hospital's website: http://nsmc.partners.org/web/service/labs_...each_phlebotomy

I think I found this by doing a web search on "phlebotomy" and our city name. Maybe if you try something like that you will be able to identify some labs and call before going.

We also had an order for a blood draw for strep, so I did that and the Cunningham draw simultaneously. I don't know what they would have done if I didn't have the order for the strep draw...

Hi there,

I just got back from LabCorp here in Knoxville, TN. I had my Cunningham kit, with all the papers, instructions, etc. Unfortunately, they said they don't "do stuff like that." The gentleman went on to say that they only do things that will be sent to LabCorp...

I guess I thought that I'd read that someone else on this forum had gone to LabCorp... not sure.

For those that have already done the blood draw... where did you have it done?? Did you do it through your local doctor? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

- Karen

I guess it depends on the technician... we went to our local LABCORP, explained what we needed, and she was a bit confused as to what to do/how to bill, but then she just did it for us. My husband was insisting on trying to figure out a way to pay, and she said "you've never been here <_< "

Maybe just go in with some home-made cookies?
