Doug Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Hello everyone, thanks for the good advice and the words of encouragment. It a shame that everyone's insurance company don't realize this as a real illness with real treatment. Does Dr. K provide the pre / post medication? We will pump tons of fluid's down her. I wil keep everyone posted on how it goes. Lauren is a lot calmer yesterday and today, she cried for 48 straght hours with intrusive thoughts coming into her head every minute or two. This is a evil illness, and I pray all of our kids will recover. Please email or call with any questions. -Doug

Is that number low? does anyone have and experience with their kiddos handling this well? Please advise. -Doug
KeithandElizabeth Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Our immunologist recommended Zantac 3 days before and the day of and after IVIG to prevent nausea. We also used motrin for the headaches. We just used it preventatively. Elizabeth
Worried_Dad Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 We've had 3 rounds of IVIG with Dr. K in Chicago. The staff at OBSC (per his protocol) always administer benadryl before the infusion and infuse fluids before and after the Ig. Although our son complained of nausea and headache, it was never severe for him, and he never had vomiting. Did complain of feeling hot and sweaty, but again, nothing serious, more like a very mild flu. Best of luck!
