Doug Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Hello Everyone, OMG things seemed to be going so well, I say she was 95% Good. Lauren has been sleeping with us for the past few months and we thought we could get her into her own bed. We tried this last Sunday Night and she cried but eventually went to sleep. The next day she seemed sad and angry about us making her sleep in her own bed, and that evening it exploded into major stress and crying and we told her she could sleep with us again, but now it mutated into major PANDAS symptoms, tons of intrusive thoughts, like she doesn't love us but she know she does. Huge seperation anxiety, and fears of eating she somehow has linked eating to giving her bad thoughts. I didn't know this could all be brought on by stress as well. Anyway it's been a long few days, we have a phone consultation with Dr. K tomorrow afternoon and we are probably going to start prednisone and then seek IVIG ASAP. I am totally sad over this, I kills me to see her this way. It is so weird how she was totally fine one day and a complete wreck the next. I am open to any advice. God Bless, Doug
peglem Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 I don't have any advice- it sounds like you're doing the right thing w/ Dr. K and the treatment. Just wanted to let you know that I feel for your situation. No matter how many exacerbations we go through- its always so scary when it hits hard like that. It will get better again...and you'll get through it.

Megs_Mom Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 That seems like a pretty dramatic exacerbation for stress. I wonder if coincidential? Easy to blame yourself, but I'd look for exposure. Kid at school w impetigo? Strep or anything in house? Glad to hear u have dr k today! Good luck.
thereishope Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 I'm sorry. First,it sounds like a lot at once so I would take my son to the ped for a strep test. Is she on antibiotics right now? Does she have signs of a virus, allergies, etc? If it was any residual OCD, it can spiral. I'm not saying to ignore everything that happened, but when OCD wants the person to do something, it causes so much anxiety when that need cannot be fulfilled (sleeping with you). It's an extinction burst. The word "burst" explains it. They burst with anxiety. Then the OCD started to freak out that it was going to lose so it started slamming her with more thoughts and eventually sent her overboard. OCD needs to be viewed as a physical entity. It is such a controlling thing!
