ajcire Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I had blood work on my kids a few weeks ago but am unable to get in touch with the dr. for the results. Can I call the lab that did it and just get the results over the phone from them or does it have to go through the dr?

smartyjones Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 i have found that you need to get the results from the dr. we've been fortunate in that all drs have happily given them but those results technically belong to you, not the dr's office so you can demand they give you a copy.

You can certainly try to call the lab- just call, the worst they can say is "no". I tried calling labcorp and the hospital lab before - they both told me that the results can only be given by the ordering dr.- but once they get the results they can make you a copy. (I get copies of all labs from the dr. for our personal records)
ajcire Posted February 3, 2010 Author Report Posted February 3, 2010 Thanks guys.. I figured that legally they have to give me the results but I can't get in touch with them to get them.
