Rapid Strep Tests for home use

Want to get some of these for home use. Where do you buy them and what brands do you use.

 

 

In other random thoughts... if they are cheaper in bulk, would anyone want to do a co-op?

I bought a set of 25 tests and, in my own PANDAS obsessive state, I used all of them on both of my children and always got a negative result. But, I wonder if my son could be having false negatives since he is on 250 mg. a day of augmentin?

I typically culture others in the house.. brother, sister, DH, myself and even sometimes Corsa if he is complaining.

Has anybody gotten a positive swab on the home test kits? I looked on Amazon and some of the comments (there weren't many) said they got false negatives, but maybe because they didn't swab properly. The expensive one ($69-00), had 1 really great review, but I couldn't find out how many tests come with that one.

 

A few years ago I bought one of those like SFmom showed. I used it @ 3 times, all negative. Then my daughter got into it and ruined it, so that's all I know.

My doctor said if they are on abx the rapid will always be negative, you have to do the culture. In any case, I would use those for other family members. It'd be interesting to try doing it at home right after you come back from the doctor with a + on the rapid...

 

SF Mom, did you ever get any positives and then confirm at the doctor?
