Guest Susanna
Just wondering if anyone has tried NAET and what their experience has been with it.
Heather
I have been reading a lot about this technique lately as there are others on the Feingold members support group that are having luck with this method of allergy elimination. It sounds a little hokey but at the same time, I do have some belief in this type of treatment and there are people who are posting who have had much success with it. Guest Nancy
Hi Susanna, I've heard of NAET, but never tried it. I've posted before about NMT (neuromodulation technique), which we used for my son's allergies. It's newer than NAET, and is supposed to work more quickly and effectively than NAET. Our naprapath used to do NAET, but now uses NMT. I have to say, it seems to have worked - my son isn't having allergy problems anymore. You can search this forum for my older posts and check out the website: Neuromodulationtechnique.com for more info. It is used to treat many conditions other than just allergies. I also thought the whole concept sounded "unusual," but it really seems to have worked. Good luck. Nancy
Heather
Nancy, When you say your son doesn't have allergy problems anymore do you mean he doesn't tic anymore? As I understand the ticcing according to the natural theory, that it is an allergic reaction to certain stimuli whether it be food or environmental substances. The idea of NAET is to remove the body's allergic reaction to the stimuli and therefore the ticcing would go away. Is this also the idea behind NFT? What type of allergic reaction did you notice that it helped? Thanks. Heather
Guest Nancy
Heather, My son had typical spring allergies - itchy eyes and lots of congestion. He was actually prone to sinus infections before he started showing typical allergy symptoms - it seemed like most colds became a sinus infection. Allergy medicines didn't seem to help much, and he's always been sensitive to medications like that - when he was younger they made him very agitated, bad behavior, etc. We actually took him to an environmental allergist and he tested positive for dust, all molds, pollens, etc. I also felt the allergies contributed to his tics, although I really think there are different issues for different people, and often more than one issue. Anyway, he had NMT last summer and again this spring when allergy season rolled around and I thought he was starting to show allergy symptoms. It seems to have stopped it and he's having none of the constant congestion problems he was plagued with before. His tics have been pretty minimal for awhile now - most people notice nothing. Of course, I can see little changes or increases, but I don't comment on them. I am more concerned with some anxiety and OCD-type issues he seems to have. I do feel he may have other issues such as yeast or metals or pyroluria, and we are going to take him to have all those things tested. I do think NMT really helped his allergies, and the naprapath has used it to correct other "faults" in his body that may be contributing to the tics as well. It's hard to know exactly what to attribute every improvement to, but overall he's been healthier. You can search for a practitioner on the website - I'd recommend someone who has taken the advanced seminar and who can tell you about their experience using NMT. Good luck.
