michele703 Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 We had our first appointment with Dr. Latimer last Thursday, Nov.12th. I am just wondering how long it takes to get the lab results? Also, does she call with the results are send them in the mail?
brooke Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 We had our first appointment with Dr. Latimer last Thursday, Nov.12th. I am just wondering how long it takes to get the lab results? Also, does she call with the results are send them in the mail? If it is the Cunningham bloodwork, that can take some time. I did the bloodwork for tow of my children in different months. For one of my children, it took about 6 weeks, and the labs were sent to us at home with explanations. For my other child, the result was much quicker, but Dr. Latimer received them directly. Dr. Latimer called immediately with the results though. Good luck! Brooke
bronxmom2 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Dr. Cunningham's lab is now closed until January, so it probably wasn't for that... Was it an immunological workup? Checking for Immunoglobulins and pnuemoccocal titers?
dcmom Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Brooke- Do both of your kids have pandas? I have one definate, and one that if she is it is very mild....
matis_mom Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 We are going to Dr. Latimer's tomorrow for our first appointment. I am bringing all the labs we have so far from our other doc. I am a little worried about cost (beyond the consult fee) for labs. Do they usually run these through insurance, or are they out-of-pocket. I basically don't care at this point, but just want to prepare my husband (he's the one who pays the bills!) We were hoping to get our Cunnigham results by now, but nothing yet, maybe we'll get an email tomorrow morning before heading out!
brooke Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Brooke- Do both of your kids have pandas? I have one definate, and one that if she is it is very mild.... Both are positive per Cunningham. Younger one was the severe onset. Older one has struggled all of his life with ocd/anxiety, and hand flapping. It has not stopped his life like hsi younger brother. But it has negatively impacted it in retrospect and I have not idea what to do? Dr. Latimer met with him two weeks ago, and i could not be there because I was in the er myself. His CaM Kinase was 156. Weird thing that I am thinking is that the two boys cannot get along for 2 minutes. It is almost like they are opposite forces, but I wonder whether they are literally reactive toward one another?? Older one had CHRONIC strep, and has had a number of bouts with pneumonia. Younger, little strep, pneumonia, wicked ear infections, and anal strep (we think). Both have bad allergies too. I have a middle son with no symptoms thankfully
dcmom Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Brooke- have you been to an immunologist with them? It sounds like it might be worth a try? If you have, who do you see? thanks!

She did send the blood draw to Cunningham...overnighted it..she said as long as it was in by Friday they should accept it..I am not expecting that to come back for a while. The other tests were immunological workup, ANA,and Vitamin D. I think that is all.
