BethM33 Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 My son is 5 with Pandas. i'm wondering...how much is too much television or computer time for him? Does it bother the PANDAs at all, making the tics worse etc.? I usually limit tv and computer time for both of my kids, but am just curious as to whether or not it makes his tics worse or no different? What do you all think??? Also, has anyone else noticed an increase in symptoms (tics, etc) with weather changes??? We live in the South and every time a front comes through or the barametic pressure drops or changes, his tics get worse... is this all in my head??? Bethany
faith Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 I don't know about other symptoms, but my son's tics, especially the head an eye tics absolutely vamp up when he is on the computer for a while, especially when he's really overdoing it on these 'club penguin' games (I hve severely limited that, he was getting addicted). When he is in a waxing phase, I have had to take him off the computer, the tv is a little harder, but do what you can, and I can see that he will calm down some. In my opinion, taking away the computer and tv screens for at least a week may even provide some relief. wether it is PANDAS or not, I think it can help if you feel it is a trigger for your child. For us, we've been dealing with this for so long, that there is no quick fix for him anymore, but I do think there are alot of things that are worth a try. Any dietary things that may cause increase can help too, you just have to figure out what it is. I'm sure there are some foods that they are sensitive too (Igg sensitive) that probably adds to inflammation in the body and causes increase in symptoms, so that is something to look at too. I'm thinking nighshades (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers) are said to be very inflammatory to some people and even people with arthritis find some releif when avoiding those, so its something to think about. britneymag Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 My DD is just the opposite. We have noticed that she tics less when she is really into her Nintendo DS. She does seem to get worse when there is a full moon though. Melanie
