My daughter just came down with the flu. Approx. 20 hours ago she started sneezing and was congested. Woke up congested and had fever and aches and pains by noon today. We just came back from testing for H1N1. We do not have results yet. Pediatrician prescribed tamiflu. Wants me to start now because my daughter has low IGG's, and other immune defiency concerns. HAs anyone given their children Tamiflu? Did it help or add neurological side effects. I know one person posted this summer it made her daughter HAVE A BAD pandas RELAPSE. I only have several more hours to make my decision. Please let me know if you have tried Tamiflu and if there were any PANDAS side effects. Thank you

We have H1N1 right now and did start Tamiflu about 30 hours into it. My son's PANDAS started to flare 2 days before he started with the fever. Yesterday after 2 doses of Tamiflu when his fever started to go up again in the afternoon he developed a vocal tic. He has had motor tics before but this was the first vocal tic.

Not sure if I would blame the Tamiflu for his PANDAS symptoms. He is two weeks out from strep so we were by no means anywhere near baseline when the flu hit him.

I am going to continue the Tamifu because I really do think it is helping him get over the flu faster.

Not sure about the Tamiflu question, but wanted to add that you can take Tamiflu AND oscollococcinum at the same time. Oscillococcinum works in a similiar way as Tamiflu, but without any side effects. My children have the flu and our physician told us to just take Oscillococcinum, but said if we wanted, we could use Tamiflu at the same time.

I used the oscillococcinum, tamiflu and ester-c with my son. I do think it did help with the symptoms and shortened the course of the flu. He has been fever free for 24hours but still isn't really eating much so I decided to keep him home one more day. The teacher sent a note home with his school work telling me she would sit him next to the healthy kids in the class if she could just figure out who they were! The school is requiring a dotors note for all absences but the doctors office didn't want to see him. They called the Tamiflu into the pharmacy and faxed an excuse to the school - I was happy to save on a doctors bill for a change.
