sf_mom Posted September 11, 2009 Author Report Posted September 11, 2009 Our twins had a fever, vomiting, diarrhea.... so, stomach bug. Both my husband and I were sick but only with about 36 hours diarrhea no vomiting. For the families with illness in the household now, can you say if it looks more like a stomach or a respiratory bug? Is there a cough, fever, sore throat?
kim Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Thanks SF Mom. I guess we're all anxious to hear how everyone does with any flu this year. This is an article with symptoms from the early cases http://www.jaapa.com/Characteristics-of-pa...article/148373/ A new variant of influenza A (H1N1) was initially detected in April 2009 and has gone on to cause a worldwide pandemic. This report describes the characteristics of the first 642 cases identified in 41 states. The median age of patients was 20 years, with a range of 3 months to 81 years; 40% of patients were aged 10 to 18 years, and 35% were aged 19 to 50 years. Patients presented with fever (94%), cough (92%), sore throat (66%), diarrhea (25%), and vomiting (25%); data were available regarding symptoms for 50% to 66% of patients, depending on the symptom
thereishope Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Only 25% had vomitting? Wow. So many people may have had it or will have and never know. I would never even think the kids had the flu unless vomitting occurred. Thanks SF Mom. I guess we're all anxious to hear how everyone does with any flu this year. Stomach symptoms I associate with gastroenteritis or what most people call the 'stomach flu'. One of my son's friends just had H1N1 and he started with a cough, the fever came the next day, and he was pretty miserable for about 4 days. He's totally on the mend now and back to his exercising and tennis playing, etc. We also know a few other kids who have had it and most recovered in 3-5 days with no secondary infections.
