T_Mom
This is a long shot -- but our dd is recently reporting she cannot see things at a distance. This well could be a familial near-sightedness showing up, but I was just wondering if others have had a similar need for glasses... I realize the difficulty with this as of course many children need glasses--I am just wondering if it could be related? Her pupils have been noticeably very large through out the year (at least five doctors in the past 14 months have said not to worry about this...) They were first huge with the initial onset of anorexia setting in and continue to indicate when she is "having a hard time".

I would look at that first, I don't know what she's taking...secondly...my dd had changes in vision which was not explained by medications...I KNOW THIS FOR SURE....yet no opthalmalogist could pinpoint why. I would go ahead with any appts related to vision that you may already have...just in case. Good luck.
T_Mom
Thanks Amy-- I agree an eye appointment is in order. In some ways I think the first sign of PANDAs/Pitand should be the PUPILS! best-- T.
michele
Yes, my son has huge dilated pupils. "big , bug eyes " Also interesting enough, I found last summer at the ped eye Dr. that he has vision issues with one eye straining for the other eye. He did need glasses to reduce the strain on the good eye. However, also through OT, we found he has visual perception issues which may be connected to the dysgraphia. We are now doing a series of exercises with the OT for vision therapy. See the post by Chemar under LD on vision therapy. There are specialist in vision therapy but they are not covered by most insurance. We are using supports like highlighting lines, maizes, search and finds, picking out like objects from pictures, games etc. It very much plays a role in hand eye corrdination. Our OT is well trained in this also. I am glad she caught it. I think it is affecting him in school in Math and writing but I have to get the school to see the connection! He is doing great in Reading! Michele Thanks Amy-- I agree an eye appointment is in order. In some ways I think the first sign of PANDAs/Pitand should be the PUPILS! best-- T.
