In the blood, glutamate is present at a level about 25% that of glutamine. See what you can make of the above article. The glutamine/glutamate/MSG and how the conversion is made to GABA is a huge topic in itself. The link that I posted is just ONE resource. A search of the forum will probably pull up some good info too. I've struggled with this whole thing myself in the past.
