Guest
Has anyone had any experiences on cruises? Do they provide gluten & dairy free items? Do they allow you to bring your own food? I'm going to be going on a 3-4 day cruise this year, and I'm just wondering about this before it's booked. I imagine we'll be eating in the dining areas quite a bit, but I'm also concerned about the food offered not being organic. Carolyn
CSP
HI Carolyn, It has been 18 years since I have been on a cruise, but my husband and I did ask questions and the travel agent was very nice and helpful. Are you doing this on line? Hope you have fun, I was sea sick the whole time. C.P.
faith
Hi Carolyn! Sounds wonderful! I guess you have been really busy this year, huh?! I can't comment about the organics, altho I wouldn't be surprised if they had that available, but you may have to be booked in the first class suite, if you know what I mean! But really, cruises really do revolve around eating and I'm sure there will be ample choices in the way of fresh fare, i.e. fruits, veg, salads, meats, etc. so I don't think it should be too bad. But I would also tote some things of your own that you might want to have on hand, like your almond milks, cereals and snacks. But yes, you should inquire from the travel agent or just call the cruise line and they should be able to answer your questions. Have fun! QsMom
Carolyn- You may have thought of this and not sure if you are taking kids, but I bet the Disney Cruise Line would be a great option. All of the sit-down restaurants in Disney cater to food allergies. In every case, the chef came to our table and talked with me about what my son could eat and then fixed him a wonderful gourmet meal. They even had GFCF desserts, GFCF bread and ice cream-like choices. My son was really in heaven, and it was so wonderful to go out to eat and not have him feel retricted. I'm sure the Disney Cruise line offers this same level of service but it is definitely worth checking out .... We loved it so much that we will be going back to Disney again next year!!! :-) have fun ..... PS- Is that tigger in the picture with you??? Guest
I'm not the one booking the cruise, but I imagine we'll go through a travel agent. I'll be sure to have who ever books it check with the travel agent or cruise line. Yes, I've been really busy this year. It will be a nice vacation from work and school where I can just totally relax. We're also going to Disney World. It's not until the end of the year, and it's a graduation gift for my younger sister and me(I won't graduate for 2 more years, so it's early for me). Nope, we're not taking kids(young ones anyway) so we probably won't be going on the Disney Cruise line. That sounds great about Disney offering GFCF desserts, breads, and ice-cream like choices at sit down restaurants as we will be going there also for a few days. Yes, that's tigger in the picture with me. It's from a few years ago. Carolyn
