samsmom
We are flying over to the UK next week - just over 9 hours flight time. The flight going over is an overnight one and I really want Sam to sleep for at least part of the time. On previous flights he has often stayed awake the whole time - it's exhausting for him and us, and he does so much worse when he's overtired that we end up struggling with it for days after. Does anyone know of a natural product that would help him to sleep for 3 or 4 hours?

Does anyone know of a natural product that would help him to sleep for 3 or 4 hours? Have you used melatonin with him? There are also relaxing safe herbs such as valerian(there are kids formulas) and skullcap which might relax him enough to allow him to go to sleep. We also find that soft classical music helps. My son has his own MP3 player. Enjoy your trip. Laurie
Calicat
A teaspoon of Kids Calm (mostly magnesium citrate) seems to do wonders for my daughter. She used to lay awake in bed for 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours every night... I would literally be shocked if she ever fell asleep within 20 minutes... and now she usually is asleep within 15 minutes. That effect started when we started with the Kids Calm, and it started working the first night. Calms me down too! I won't go to bed without it. I had sleep issues until I started taking it. I hear GABA is helpful too, and 5HTP, I believe. Good luck. Calicat
faith
When my son was a baby/toddler, I have him a little does of PediaCare Couph and Cold. It just made him drowsy and helped him to fall asleep on the plane and eliminate any ear pain on take off or landing if he was asleep. I suppose it couldn't hurt to use some sort of cough or cold medicine (if it doesn't have any effect on his tics) that would promote drowsiness.
