Mike
My 10 yr old started ticcing early March which we believe was caused by strep. After antibiotics the neck tics for a short time went down a little, but still was over 20-50 times a day (sometimes in the hundreds). Nothing really seemed to make a big difference, even Tenex which I am almost done taking him off of (you have to slowly reduce the dosage). Just last Friday I noticed he was ticcing about 50% less. Sat about 75% less. Sun 90% lessand now almost tic free apart from sniffs before going to bed which are also way down. I am so pleased to see this improvement since we have never seen him this tic free before, but wonder how long waning periods have lasted before for you or your children? Are there weeks where tics go away 100% to just reappear later? I am hoping that this is him getting over the strep trigger and he will be fine (unless he gets another infection). kkver
Hi mike I was about to post a message to you to check about your son. My son was tic free during the 10 Day Zithromax course which i did in middle of April and after 5 day of antibiotic stopping his mild tics came with little humming but they went away on 7 days . He was Tic free for nearly 2 weeks when last week friday i saw some humming returned. He got annoyed at some thing so i recalled he cried for 15- 20 minutes. After that i have seen him humming ( chemar told it is vocal Tic) some times with once or twice vocal tic in 4 days. I have him on 250 mg Vitmin C (animal prade) , 2 Animal prade gummies of multivitamins and 1/2 tsp of norvigian fish oil ( lemon flavour ) all of them i got from Henery's my local Farmer market store. I will like input from all the people here how are these vitamins or should i change them. He was also pricribed catapres( similar to Tenex) but i refused it. http://www.naturesplus.com/products/produc...amp;category=12 vitamin C Supplement Facts Ingredient Amount % Daily Value Calories 10 Total Carbohydrate 2 g 1 %* Sugars 2 g † Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid) 250 mg 417 % Bioflavonoids (from Citrus limon exocarp) 50 mg † * Percent Daily Values are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. † Daily Value (DV) not established. My sons episodes tend to run for about a month then die down until the next virus or infection. The last time he didn't even get sick but must have been exposed to the virus from his kindergarten boosters. The bad news is the tics seem to improve after the episodes but the ADHD and obsessiveness seem to be sticking around now as he is getting older. He is now 5 and started the strep episodes at age one. There is always a chance it will not come back. Sometimes I even believe it when he seems better for a short time. Last one was in Jan. and we are having anothe one now in May. With age could go away or get worse. Only God and time will tell for sure. My son was never on meds for tics. They always went away. Best of luck. Michele
