Allergy testing

Hi, I am new to the forum. I just have one question. I would like to get my son tested for allergies and was wondering which test is best. Is it Alcat or IgG or are they the same? Thank you for your help.

My naturo indicated that Alcat tests for igg ( which are antibodies, I believe) but also a little more, so i think its a little better or more accurate?

You could do a search and read on what it is. When you say allergies, do you mean environmental or foods? Igg testing is for foods, I believe. And intolerances are not necessarily allergies in the typical sense, but sensitivities to certain foods or ingredients.

Ok, I guess I am not sure. I had an alternative (does acupunture, herbs, and allergy testing of some sort) do an allergy test and she said he was only allergic to grass, flowers, and dust. I was looking to get the most accurate test done in order to help with tics because I had him on an elimination diet and it seemed to help somewhat, but I wasn't sure. I had eliminated so many foods (dairy, wheat, corn, apples, etc.) that I am not sure if and what would help. I just want a throrough food and environmental testing-allergy and sensitivity done. It sounds like many rely on the Alcat so I was considering that, but the environmental Dr. that is in our state does IgG so I wasn't sure which would be better. Thanks.

We did the Alcat, and when we couldn't find a doctor who did it we just called the company directly. I talked to Melissa and she helped me out quite a bit. She got in touch with my Pediatrician and Chiropractor and discussed the test with them. My pediatrician still refused to sign a prescription, but my Chiro said "no problem!" With the prescription we were able to get the insurance to cover the test. I am thrilled with the results, as my son is currently not ticking at all after doing a complete elimination diet based on his test results (I'm not sure this is typical, so please don't think the same is for everyone.) My son did not test positive for environmental allergies (except toulene), only food. If you haven't seen it yet, check my post "Is anyone doing a rotation diet?" as I talk in more detail about the Alcat and the results we got.

You can google their company. Their phone# is 954-426-2304. Results take about 10 days after blood is drawn. It is a four page result and a 30 or so page guide goes with it.
