hi lead and mercury -- advice

Recommended Posts

Just did ds hair test for toxic and essential elements wtih DD, Doctor Data.

High were lead, mercury, sodium, potassium, and lithium. Magnesium was low.

now these results are extremely surprising for us.

Lead is 2.8 micrograms per gram, mercury is 0.57 micrograms per gram.

We filter our water and though we live in an old house, most old paint was stripped and painted over.

We don't eat big fish that eats others and lives long(er).

We believe our supplements come from a reputable provider -- Puritan Pride.

Any ideas where lead and mercury might be coming from? and what to do?

any experience with high lead and mercury?

thanks in advance!

Other sources could have been mom (in utero and breastfeeding), amalgams, and vaccines. Multi-dose flu

vaccines still have the full amount and other vaccines (since about 2003) still contain "trace amounts," whatever that means. Also its in the air from pollution and all fish contain mercury - the smaller fish just have less. I don't know much about lead.

I was diagnosed with mercury poisoning in 2003, and had to go through chelation. My doctor did not base his diagnosis on the hair test (although we did one initially); I guess they can be misleading. Once I'd had my amalgams safely removed, we did a "challenge" urine test, which means I took a chelating medication for a period of time and then ran a urine test.

DAN! doctors are usually the most knowledgeable in this area.

All our children and me have similar heavy metals and similar ratios of lead and mercury to yours. One child has many more metals but still has same ratio of lead and mercury.

Our house was built in 1951 and contained building materials with both lead and asbestos but was painted over or wrapped. Plumbing was old but we also filtered our water. When we tested our water we found it contained traces of lead. Many filters will not eliminate metals.

Last summer we moved 1 1/2 miles away to a new construction house and we tested our water and also found lead. We now have a whole home filtering system that specifically eliminates heavy metals.

I believe the metals could have come from me, from our home, from our children's school, from the bugs. Metals will cling to bacteria, viruses, mold, fungus, etc.

Our children also have a mold issue. DD with the highest levels of mold and variety also has the most amount of metals and variety.... plus most compromised immune system, sickest child.

We have done some heavy metals chelation with our children but are now waiting to do IV chelation after mold levels are is within normal ranges. Chelation can be a very difficult process because you are also pulling out the bugs.

I am currently doing IV chelation every other week. I am off antibiotics but have been flaring with secondary infections when I do chelation with gum infection, bladder infection requiring me to restart antibiotics for about a week. Some people will flair with yeast or fungus when doing chelation.

We did the urine challenge testing for metals. I repeat test every third or fourth chelation session and levels are dropping.

No known experience.....but, from what I understand, magnesium is needed for natural body detox and a whole host of other important processes......so it does not seem surprising with the high metals vs. low mag.

After our issues started, DAN doc put our worst kiddo on high does Cal-Mag......calcium and magnesium. Again, we threw EVERYTHING into her to help her.....so I can't say what all has helped. But I have researched each supplement and why he might be giving it. We are in a good place.

Try researching magnesium deficiency and see where that leads you....... Best of luck to you!!!!! Couple links to get you started:

*see below quote from this article

Magnesium is needed by every cell in the body including those of the brain. It is one of the most important minerals when considering supplementation because of its vital role in hundreds of enzyme systems and functions related to reactions in cell metabolism, as well as being essential for the synthesis of proteins, for the utilization of fats and carbohydrates. Magnesium is needed not only for the production of specific detoxification enzymes but is also important for energy production related to cell detoxification. A magnesium deficiency can affect virtually every system of the body.
