Rifampin Good/Bad Experiences?

Was suggested to us to add Rifampin to our Duricef. Positvie strep on several different antibiotics and post T&A 4 weeks.

 

What are some experiences with it? Side Effects? Is it an old druG?

Yes it is an old antibiotic and does not work well alone but with another antibiotic it helps penetrate the cells. We saw only positive things from it. Especially with my son.

We had improvements with rifampin as well. Our LLMD used it along with biaxin to treat bartonella.

We take rifampin for bartonella. Hits Lyme also. No side effects except for orange urine. It cleared much of my brain fog. My son had rages prior to rifampin.

I was scared to put my DD on it because it is a "big gun", she ended up taking it for a year. It completely cleared out all strep and I have to say she seemed to do fairly well while on it. We monitored CBC etc and liver function while on it. I spoke with a cardiologist who much preferred it over Bactrim which my younger daughter had a life threatening reaction to.
