cara615
So the Bravo arrived with a booklet of instruction and supplies to have on hand in order to make the yogurt. Its takes 3 days and requires complete sterilization of my kitchen. Can you tell that i am not chomping at the bit to make this stuff? So in the mean time (while I wait for all the supplies that I had to order, to arrive) I bought some Sacc. B and Culturelle dairy free. i gave the Sacc B last night about an hour after his abx. Didn't notice anything different this morning. i will give the Culturelle with his regular probiotic this afternoon and monitor his tics. Anyone experience anything good or bad with Sacc B? When is the best time to give it? Ds does have a moderate intolerance to baker's yeast but he gets it in some of the foods he has been eating and i don't necessarily see an increase in tics so i am not too worried that the Sacc B will aggravate things. Any thoughts? (edited to add): i believe the main reason why ds is still ticcing is because of his terrible gut bacteria. He has clostridia as well as other bad bacteria and if we can get this back to normal, I would think his tics would go away. He has been on azithro from Nov to April and now Augmentin from April to now. The abx gave him the clostridia but I know his gut was a mess even before the abx. I have been giving him Ther-biotic Detox for a year now and GSE for yeast control. Not sure how well they have been working.... JenniferG
Is there Bakers Yeast in Probiotics?
cara615
The Sacc B is actually a beneficial yeast. Its not technically a probiotic. This is from what i have been reading. Someone please correct me if i am wrong!
LNN
Sacc B is "supposed" to be a good yeast. Many latititudes families see good results from it and like that it survivies abx and doesn't have to be taken at least two hours away from abx. But there are always exceptions to every "rule". My son and a few others have bad reactions to Sacc B. It makes him angry, hyper and unfocused. Have tried it more than once, always with the same negative results. Things that have made my son tic: herxing, yeast, and mold. Mold is a big trigger for him. He's been clear of Pandas and lyme symptoms for over a year. But now when I see tics, I go hunting for mold and when I find it, tics stop. We use CP-1 as a probiotics - only now that he's off abx, we only use it twice a week. Hopefully, your son won't have issues. But you're not crazy if you think it's having the opposite effect. It's not "good" for everyone.
pr40
i thought that we saw improvement when we started Sacc initially. then, it seemed that we should not be giving it every day. we are now doing it once in a while. can't be sure. Momwithacause
Sacc B correct is a benicial yeast that is known to kill Candida.I had been buying it from Florestor now I buy it from Jarrow, better price seems to work great also. I use it for myself Keep us posted on the Bravo Probiotic, Let us know if it works better for you then the Sacc B Culturelle combo. I know it is expensive how much did it cost? Does it seem difficult to make? My son is on Fivelac. That works really well for us, better for him for yeast control then Culturelle (but I like your SaccB Culturelle idea). Right now he cannot be on Sacc B because he is taking antifungals & antifungals kill Sacc B
cara615
The Bravo cost $860 for a 3 month supply (YIKES!). I am not starting it until school gets out. I want to wean him from the abx so I don't kill the Bravo. It is a very time consuming process to make it. i have a giant plastic container with all the supplies in it. Jars, yogurt maker, strainers, spoons, pots, etc. I'm thankful that another PANDAS mom lent me her yogurt maker. That wold have been another $100!! I will keep you all posted on ds's reaction to the Bravo once we start it.
