Q for those who have gotten IVIG

Our dd had high dose abx 10 days prior to surgery and preventative dose after. We will keep her on them for a long time. It was amazing to see all of the different bacteria that grew on her culture.

We have not done IVIG so I was reading experiences. For those of you which repeated strep have all people in your child's life been tested as carriers including pets?

3bmom, we have all 5 (ppl) been tested. We called two vets (we have cats) and told that only dogs can carry/get strep.

3bmom, we have gotten everyone tested, and out vet just treated the dogs for strep (2x) based on the cost/difficulty to properly test our dogs.

DS has had 22 documented cases of strep from ages 4 to present (15). DH has had strep 1/2 dozen times as an adult, and was routinely checked every time DS popped positive during childhood, because DH was so likely to get strep from DS. So far, I have never had strep before. Tested many times. Whole family has been tested every six months for the past three years. Only DS has had it during that time period.

I have made numerous calls to vets, whom have made calls to check, and have been told that strep passes through dogs, should they be exposed, but they don't actually carry strep as humans do.
