colleenrn
We are getting ready to do genetic testing through Courtagen on my four PANS children. It is mtDNA/mitonucleome sequencing. Has anyone done this testing and is it helpful in treating PANS? TIA! Colleen
lfran
We did it per dr t's recommendation. My ds came back pretty normal. It did show a potential problem with copper processing
drk
Our son had a genetic test from GeneDx that showed a gene mutation. This mutation is supposed to cause copper processing issues, however the blood tests we did afterwards did not confirm copper processing problems in him. Our genetic doctors are confused by this result. I would be very interested / appreciative to hear more about the results of your Courtagen test as it relates to copper processing. What did the test reveal? And was your Dr. able to provide any insight on the "potential problem with copper processing"? Thank you in advance. lfran
The courtagen test showed one mutation for copper. 23andme showed a lot more a snps that were mutated that were involved with copper. His serum copper is pretty high relative to his zinc so we are supplementing with zinc to try to normalize the ratios.
