pr40 Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 T. Anna says this "Btw, listening to some archived Radio Pandas and heard that Dr.K said at some point that from over 800 patients the majority were Jewish, Italian and Celtic British (in that order). Anyone else have any info on that?" Our kids are Balkan (Italian in small part) plus Celtic mix.
T_Anna Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) EAmom had a good point that Dr.K's sampling is far from random. Although Chicago/MidWest does have a much larger melting pot then just those three groups. I know that many people are more willing to follow a psych drug/therapy route here in NYC then try to understand and treat PANDAS : ( T.Anna Edited August 18, 2013 by T.Anna
SSS Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 I have to think about economic implications, as well. Only people who can afford PANS treatment get it. Too many variables with Dr. K's ethnicity pattern, IMO. EAMom 1
T_Anna Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 You're prob correct. Glad there are more studies, that will help our kids. T.Anna
pr40 Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 but if it is genetic, there could be some rules that are worth discovering. For instance, I know that psoriasis is much less frequent in African populations.
nicklemama Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Interesting. Dr K has never mentioned this to us in any of our appointments. DS is an ethnic Russian and he was born in Russia.
