Steroids and tics

Ds (PANS) has had a mouth stretching tic for about 6 weeks now. He started a steroid burst (6 days) a few days ago, so we are half-way through it and his tic is WORSE! Is this typical? I was hoping he'd calm down, since steroids help our 4 yr old PANDAS child.... He does seem happy and calm, just ticcing away! lol

Check out the Tourette's forum. I think Chemar has mentioned that steroids can exacerbate ticcing.

My little one's tics worsened at first on steroids. By the end of the month, they were gone.and stayed gone for months.

I have read many stories on steroids exacerbating tics. We have been afraid to try them for that reason.

Yes, steroids exacerbate my tics A LOT. However, after they completely disappear for months.
