Drawing Blood at Home?

Has anyone had blood drawn at home?

 

Doe sthe blood have to be spun before you can send it out?

A lab has come out to take blood from hubby for a life insurance plan we bought. The lab took care of the whole thing, so I do not know what they did with the blood.

Blood can be drawn at home; however, some lab tests require the serum to be separated from the plasma, so in this case it would need to be centrifuged.

 

If you are having blood drawn to be sent to a specialty lab, I have asked for the local lab (Quest, LabCorp) to do the draw and spin the sample for me. Of course, I usually bribe the staff with goodies from the local bakery.

I spoke with the Cunnigham lab. The sample does not need to be spun, but does need to be shipped the same day in the box with freezer pack. It cannot be drawn on a Friday.

 

Here is hoping we can get it all done next week!!
