Our doctor is willing to switch from minocycline to Azythromycin so he called in a prescription for 200mg once per day. Just wondering if the dose should be higher for PANDAS and if so, where can I find any information about this?

Medications are not given based on age; they are given based on Kg of weight. The formula to convert lbs to kg is lbs/2.2=kg. Here is a web page that gives prescribing information for azithromycin. If you are not used to reading monographs for meds, then you could post his weight and I can let you know if it is right. My daughter was given 250mg per day at 52lbs if that helps you any.

My 6 yr. old is 46 lbs and has been on Azith, suspension, 200/5 1/2 tsp. per day for 2 years (his weight has not been below 40 for 2 years). In addition to this, however, he has been on Augmentin 2 x day. Hope that helps.

My dd6 is a peanut -42lbs maybe but has been on 200mg -1tsp daily for about 1.5 years. She has also had additional Abxs added to that - but the Azithromycin has been the anchor. Your dosage sounds typical - if its helping.
