4Nikki
My DD15 came back with no strep in the cluture and a normal ASO Titer 150. But her doctor showed us numbers that said her AutoImunie was abnormal. Dr. B said her normal patients come back with numbers of 8 to 10. DD numbers were at 160. She has order another AutoImmune test she called a panel. So doesn't this mean DD doesn't have PANS? DD had an anxiety attack at the doctors office so we couldn't hang around to ask the question. pr40
it is not clear which test your child had or what the result was. PANS is a diagnosis when strep is NOT a trigger.
Mayzoo
My daughter's ASO was 6 one time and 8 the next, while her Dnase was 95 one time and 86 the next. The first set of numbers was while she was in an active strep infection. Her immune panel shows she is immune deficient in IGG and IGA. All these means is that her body does not make antibodies to strep, and she has PANS instead. Her trigger is not strep after all, but something else. What test result showed the 150? Dedee
Most of the PANDAS specialist will tell you that just because you don't have high strep titers does not mean you do not have PANDAS. Many kids simply do not have elevated titers. It doesn't mean that they don't react to strep, only that their titers do not rise. Some non-PANDAS / PANS educated physicians will say that this means they don't have PANDAS/PANS. Absolutely not true. It's simply a difference in the response of the immune system. If your child is showing an abnormal immune pannel this may very well explain the lack of immune response. Hopefully you will get more answers with the results of the labs you just had done. 4Nikki
I think it was just an overall number, Dr. B sent us back for a more comprehensive AutoImmune lab test. DD has been flaring now for the past 3 weeks. The past few days have been the worst sence her onset last November. We enjoyed about 6 weeks of no flare ups since she had the ABX. I'm expecting lab results tomorrow. I got laid off an my insurance ended yesterday. I'm trying to get DD moved to my wife's insurance esle I will struggle the private payment. Really very bad timing. ;(
tpotter
If it hasn't been tested already, I would be testing for other infections, such as viruses (Parvo, HHV-6, HSV, Coxsackie, EBV, etc.), mycoplasma and other pneumonias, lyme, bartonella, babesia, erlichiosis for starters. Sounds like she is definitely sick with something.
4Nikki
Dr. B came back and said the new results showed she has many types of bacteria infections. One is a urinary tract infection. I couldn't understand her over the phone about the others she was saying the something about the white blood count and another ??? number. I'm going to pass by her office to pick up the test results and a discount card for Agumentin. Still trying to get DD switched to wife's insurance. I asked Dr. B about check for other Viruses and she said at this point we can test for EBV but for others we need to other things first and also get with an autoimmune specialist. I'm thinking it's better to pay out of pocket, than it is to continue to use my insurance card and wait for the bill and see if it's cheaper to pay the preimum. Dr. B is only charging $60 per vist and free over the phone for non-insurance patients. Sent out half a dozen resumes monday got one back yesterday waiting for the interview schedule.
