openminded
Just want to say hi! I've been reading on these forums for a couple of years, but just joined recently. I'm a retired elementary school teacher (third grade) and still do tutoring. My family has a lot of problems related to the immune system--chemical sensitivities, OCD, tourettes, and digestive problems. If we relied on the doctors we saw, we'd never have gotten anywhere! Thanks to all the members here who have helped me find new avenues. Actually, I should say I would never have known these problems were connected to the immune system without your help. Looking forward to being more active!
Sheila
Hi Openminded! It's nice to know you've been checking out the forums for a while and decided to become a member. I hope they can continue to help you and your family members. I see you are a retired teacher. If you can find time and would want to offer some ideas to members posting about academic problems, that would be great. Do you have a special area of interest? Know what you mean about not finding the help you needed with the doctors you saw. That's why most of us are here--we've had to be our own advocates and search for answers. Sounds like that's where you're coming from too! Hope you are doing well, and welcome! Sheila
openminded
Thanks Sheila. You asked about my interests from teaching. I'd say written language disabilities and reading problems I see you have a forum for behavior charts. I started using them a lot during my last few years of teaching and wished I'd done it earlier. I'll check on that forum once it gets more active.
MomWithOCDSon
Welcome! Like you, our family proceeded under different diagnoses (OCD, GAD, etc.) for years before finding the immune system link. Don't know where we'd be if we hadn't finally found PANDAS and the support of this forum, especially. So much knowledge, experience and support aggregated in one place!
