Boycie
Hi, Was just wondering if anyone had any information on how untreated adult ADHD can affect Tourettes, i've tried searching the web and most of the info relates to how ADHD medications affect TS, not the condition itself. I have tried a lot of TS meds with no luck and have now cleaned up my diet considerably but with no real change. I've looked into the symptoms of ADHD and can recognise practically all of them in myself. I am 38 and was diagnosed with TS when I was 15, the ADHD side was never looked into because my tics were the obvious symptom and there was not much known about TS in the UK back then. Grateful for any info anyone can provide as my tics are driving me mad! Thanks Stuart
Sheila
Hi Stuart -- and welcome! It's good you have started to clean up your diet. That's a great first step. There's lots of other issues that could be playing a role in your ADHD and TS symptoms -- like food allergy or sensitivities, allergens (dust, mold, pet dander, etc), nutritional deficiencies, viral or bacterial infection, to name just some key ones. Are you still in the UK? If so, our book Natural Treatments for Tics and Tourettes is available from Amazon UK. (Of course it is also on Amazon in USA. ) We would recommend the book, as it has many suggestions, along with reports from doctors and families on what might help. After going through it, it may give you an idea of the type of doctor who could assist you if you it seems you are going to need one. We'd love to hear from you on how things are going. Do you have any specific questions? Sheila
Sheila
Also, Stuart -- take a look at the article on our website for triggers for tics and see if any of them seem to apply to you. Let us know -- others may have some additional suggestions and follow up. Do you have a family history of allergy? Have you ever noticed anything discussed in this linked section make things worse? http://latitudes.org...ng_triggers.htm
