Tattoomom
Lamictal literally made my son CRAZY! He was angry, violent and downright psychotic after just a few days of only taking 1 pill per day. His eyes were completely dilated and glossy. It was very strange. We stopped the Lamictal and asked the Ped for a course of Augmentin, in case it was a flare, and after being good for a while, I tried re-introducing the Lamictal and he went CRAY-CRAY again! After just 1 pill! So now we know, it was no coincidence. He even told me he felt "weird" on it. I will never give him that again. The Psychiatrist really wanted him to give it a chance, but I haven't told her yet that we tried a second time. I think she was thinking the first reaction wasn't connected. Wonder why it made him so crazy? It was seriously like he was possessed. I was scared
MamaOnAMission
That happened with my child on generic but not brand. She became suicidal on generic and the manufacturer was Teva I believe.
Tattoomom
This was the generic, too.... Lamotrigine by Teva.
nicklemama
Wow, we did not have that experience. We saw a reduction in symptoms in about a week but it took many, many weeks to get to a therapeutic dose. We'd see improvements, then backsliding until 100mg was achieved. Generic lamictal. Cannot remember the generic brand. Its been a yr since he was last on it.
MomWithOCDSon
Our experience, similar to Nicklemama's, has only been positive. DS still takes Lamictal, and I just checked the prescription. It is the generic, by Teva. There must be something about our kids' chemistry that differs significantly and causes the disparate reactions. peglem
My PANDAS child did pretty well on lamictal. But her older sister, who I suspect has mycoP induced PANS, had a terrible experience w/ it and it was immediate w/ the lowest, introductory dose. It slowed her brain processes to where she could not initiate speech in time to have meaningful communication.

Just one pill made him bonkers!
