Steroids a week before PEX - is it safe?

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the group, from Philadelphia, and confess to being another lurker. I was actually having posting difficulty. Thank goodness for all of you brilliant moms who have paved the path and posted it to share. I am heading to Georgetown for PEX next week with ds10. Does anyone know if it's safe to give 5 day prednisone burst a week before pex? Or know of any reason not to? We are 4 months post ivig (Dr.T) with only slight improvement. I can't survive another day of his raging. I especially can't imagine surviving hurricane Sandy without steroids. I recall steroids were helpful with ivig for different reasons. Usually a hurricane would be a breeze compared to what we live with daily But a hurricane with a PANDAS kid is a whole 'nother story!!

I would definitely call Dr. T and ask him prior to administering steroids...
