Kim,

You have responded to before and I am thinking of some of your questions to me. My son stopped craving protein. In the past craved milk and carbs. We are on a strick diet still (waiting for our app. on his IgG test report info which is next week) mostly keeping him off trigger foods.

You asked me to look at other problems not just TS. He does seem to have OCD. and you asked about to much Vit A. I think he may be getting to much.

His multi has vit a (as beta carotene) 5000 iu and his is taking DHA too.

a doctor I met with wanted me to get Super Nu-Thera. reading that the vit A (acetate) is 2500 iu. not sure if I should just switch to that.

Its hard bc he is so young, 6 and he doesnt know how to explain how he feels. and I dont want to keep asking him, how he feels. I want him to try to feel "normal" again.

I have an appointment with a nutricinest tomorroe (thurs,) but I not sure if she is the right answer either.

It's so hard to figure this out. I know I am so new to it, but is so fustrating for me I just want to help my son as all of us here want to do.

He was bitting his bottom lip, then went to pressing on his finger till the nail started lifting of, now he is doing a droll thing that I have posted about. he isnt getting any inositol yet.

I have him just on

multi vit.

buried treasure vit Bcomplex

nordic naturals childrens DHA

cal/mag supplement liquid citrate

sorry so lengthy....any advise is helpful.

i feel this is the only place i can turn to right now.

thanks

Petb,

I'm sorry that I didn't respond sooner :(

Things at work got unexpectedly hectic, and I haven't had a lot of extra time. Also, my oldest son called from school Mon. He asked me to come and get him because he thought he was having an allergic reaction to something. When I picked him up, his face looked red and bumpy on one side, swollen, and reddish/purple blotches here and there.

To make a long story short, I caught on by Wed. morning that it wasn't an allergy, and took him to the Dr. who said she thought it was Poison Ivy. :o

She wanted to give him steroids. She must have seen the "no way" look on my face, and asked what my objection was. I told her, they made tics flair. Her answer was to give him a potent "burst" on Fri, Sat, and Sun. so by Mon. and back to school, the tics would be gone. Yea, right! I told her , if anything, I would prefer a very mild longer term dose, which she agreed to. We have managed just fine, with suspending zyrtec, and using benedryl for a few days (we were told we could use both). If his eyes would have swollen shut, or he was having a hard time breathing, I may have had to reconsider, but it just didn't look like it warranted a "burst of steroids" to me! He's doing fine, although not crazy about the spots on his face. He kind of looks like he's been in a heck of a fight, from a distance.

Anyway, I'm hoping you can point me to the thread where I asked you the questions.

I'm thinking if I was questioning vit. A that you may have mentioned using Cod liver Oil? Sometimes, according to other posts that I have read, some kids who take a multi with CLO can be getting too much vit. A. Bontech vits. also contain 5000 IU of vit A as beta carotene at full dose.

I have heard of Super Nu-Thera mostly from the Autism bds. Don't know what's in them though. Again, it's kind of hit and miss with the multi combo's for most kids. What works for one, may have no effect, or a negative effect for another, depending on individual needs. I do think that I would consider the Bontech Vits. if you're going to go that route, since Bonnie formulated them specifically with our kids problems in mind.

Your statement about protein, did your son actually crave foods high in protein at one time? Or did he just start rejecting protein at some point? If you have eliminated milk, are you using a substitute? Sometimes people will sub. soy for milk, and it seems many people have a sensitivity to both.

I wanted to tell you that my oldest son has had the drooling problem on and off too. I've never seen it with my youngest son. I wonder if it could have anything to do with teeth moving?

I hope your appt. with the nutritionist was helpful in some respect.

Are you seeing any improvements with the supplements that you have started so far?

Hi Kim

crazy weekend for us too.

hope your son is doing better. that sounds so scary. i think about what if....my son needs something like that and i wouldn't know what to do.

i did meet with a nurtricianist...she was good. switched around a few things and i tried it and now i am just back to basic. staying with what seemed to be working. i think these people i meet want to be the one that saves me and switches things around and it just doesn't work,

my son is back to licking his lips alot and now it is red around his mouth again. that is my problem....always something with his mouth. i can't figure it out yet.

thanks for responding....sometimes i just need to vent and read read read and find some supportive posts.
