socalmom Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 Anyone ever prescribed Flagyl one week on one week off for a month? I have seen people take it on weekends or for 3 out of 7 days a week but every day for every other week for a month?? I know this drug can cause yeast issues and we are dealing with Candida so it's a concern.
KaraM Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 I currently take it two weeks on then two weeks off...not quite the same schedule, but similar. I already had yeast issues before I started it so have been treating that through diet, probiotics and a weekly dose of Diflucan (and thankfully have it under control. It has not gotten any worse since I started the Flagyl protocol.
mdmom Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 My husband and I take Flagyl 7 straight days per month (we have a different protocol the other 21 days of the month). We have been doing this for over a year. Take probiotics, drink lots of water, or whatever else you do to detox. We feel really crappy (sorry for the tacky word) on our Flagyl weeks, which the doctor attributes to herxing.

Yeah, I heard it is rough on you, as it's a cyst buster. ok so I fel confident after reading others are doing similar amounts of time on Flagyl. KaraM good to hear it hasn't caused your yeast issue to become worse.
SSS Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 Instead of Flagyl, I did Tindamax 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off for some months, but, I worked up to it. First time, 3 days on, 4 days off, etc. You can build up to your week if necessary. It was hard in the beginning, but got easier, and really got 'stuff.' I didn't get yeast issues either- lots of probiotics, and sometimes I take Oil of Oregeno or Diflucan if I feel the yeast coming on (which is bloating and wicked cravings of sugar for me.)
