After a phone consult with Dr. T in early Aug he suggested stopping all ABX and do some testing. We did. My dd9 has been on Augmentin for over a year. Not 100% but well....except with exposure. So, we stop the meds and about a week after she starts with nausea...usually AM then immediately has a bowel movement and is better. After it had been going on for about a week, I started her on Pepcid. It helped a little..but she has bouts of nausea. Last week we had an initial consult with an Infectious Disease MD. He wants to try her on just Amoxicillin.....better for GI etc. let me back up....also being off ABX gave her an increase in symptoms. Once we started Amoxicillin, the symptoms started to subside somewhat.

She has also been complaining of being tired a lot. EBV neg

Could she have nausea from strep? Not sure what to make of this. I have an appt Fri with Dr. T, so started her tonight back on Augmentin to see if the bellyaches go away....so,I have something to report to him.

Could anxiety be so bad that it's making her sick to her stomache??

Does anyone have a similar experience?

Being tired a lot makes me think Lyme. I know Lyme can also cause gastroperesis, not sure about other tummy problems.

But, I think gi problems can also be pandas.

What dose of Pepcid are you using?

Is she much more anxious now vs on the augmentin?

MUCH more anxious now.

Funny....she had a positive p41 band a year ago. Has been on Augmentin....last winter/Early Spring....all Lymes were negative. Now this Aug off ABX and p41 is positive again.

What might that mean???

2 of my children were band 41 positive ONLY when tested for Lyme via Igenex. We still pursued an LLMD due to rectal bleeding at time (son had already had 3 hdIVIGs). Our Dr. did provocation testing and look for antigen match for Lyme in urine... HIGHLY accurate when positive and results are not impacted by donor antibodies from IVIG. Our older son was positive for Lyme via this method of testing and also positive for parasitic infection which was causing rectal bleeding.

The stomach aches are a symptom of Lyme et al but also often the result of parasitic infection. You can do a comprehensive stool analysis to determine potential parasitic infection. We used a lab called Metametrix which is one of the better labs for this type of testing.

What is provocation testing?

We loaded our older DS on specific combination of antibiotics to create die-off that would hopefully dump into urine. You collect urine days 3, 5 and 7 after starting antibiotics. For our older DS who was BAND 41 positive only via Igenex this type of testing worked well. He was also negative for all co-infections. We eventually did other forms of testing 'not antibody testing' and treatment responsiveness to determine other co-infections. My children are gestational Lyme et al (got it from me while pregnant) and sometimes their bodies do not recognize bacteria as foreign and therefore do not produce antibodies to bacteria. Our younger DS came up PCR positive (DNA match) for Babesia, Bartonella and IND for Lyme so we had no problem finding the source of illness in this particular child.

Here is the info on Dot Blot testing. http://igenex.com/Website/#

If your child is off antibiotics for at least one month you can also do a live blood culture for Lyme via Advance Labs.... It has also been very helpful to some that were unclear if Lyme was an issue.
