airial95
Haven't gotten a chance to read all of the responses, But we had a very bad flare after the flu shot a few years ago. As a result with not done 1 since for anybody in the family. We still follow all other vaccines, But on an extended time frame not all at once. PhillyPA
I guess it all depends on what one's experience has been. My son did not get a flu shot in time in 2009. I had him scheduled to get the flu shot but he got the flu a few days before his appointment. Getting the actual flu ruined him. He collapsed further into the abyss. It took him two years to come back to where he was before getting the actual flu. I never missed a flu shot since. He is getting his flu shot this year in a couple of weeks. I am more terrified of him getting the actual flu than the vaccine. We have never had any problem with vaccines. Never the live vaccines always the killed virus. Hopeny
I am just updating, not advocating either way, that DD had the flu shot a few weeks ago with no discernible impact. She has never really seemed to have major vax reactions though, except to one MMR when she was older and I can't remember exactly what happened, just that it was bad, and I suspect it was in the time she acquired Lyme but I am not sure. Hope everyone stays healthy no matter what the choice.
smartyjones
i do appreciate hearing the stories from those that get the flu shot with no discernible troubles - i just like to add to my pool of knowledge. i do not get flu shots for myself or my kids. i pull both my boys from school the days they do the live flu mist. this year, 3 kids vomited 2 days after flu mist day in my older ds's class -- i don't know if they had the mist or not. my ds8, diagnosed pandas, vomited and was upticking in behavior the saturday after (day 4 after returning to school after the day). luckily the next day, he was back to normal. could all be coincidental -- just interesting. i did hear today and had to roll my eyes how a major city near me had grand success with their 'drive thru flu shot program'. i just thought that has got to be screwy! Kathy4Him
Our Dr originally said no to flu vaccine, but today he recommended both flu and pneumonia vaccines. Reason is because our son 23 will start ivig monday along with high dose steroids and cellcept (immunosuppresant), already on zithromax. Dr said we can absolutely not risk getting flu or pneumonia
