my sunshine615 Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 We have been seeing Dr. Chugani out of Detriot, and he is wonderful. He does not drag his feet by no means. Last week he had a PK PET Scan, and LB done on her. At our first appt he was thinking steroids, until he got the test results, and he taold me if this was my child I would have her in IVIG treatments ASAP. Now here we are doing the first treatment tomorrow, and second on Saturday. They said it will take about 4 to 5 hours each. I am so worried about this though. It is very scary to me. Can any of you with children that have had this done please let me know what to expect, and how did your child do through it, and their outcomes. Greatly appreciated!!!
melanie Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Hi. My son has been having ivig every 21 days for 3 years. We have been very blessed. No side effects. The 1st was in a hospital and the dr used benadryl and pred. We had advil available in case No problems. Good luck!
mdmom Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Melanie, I'm hijacking this post - I have a question for you. Has the 1g/kg IVIG worked well for your son? How old is he? Yesterday a doc recommended 1g/kg IVIG for my son every 4 weeks rather than 2g/kg every 8 weeks, which is the PANDAS protocol often mentioned here. TIA.
