TheresaC Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Hi---thanks to all for your posts and info. This forum has been very helpful to me over the last 2 months. I have had some problems getting signed in so I have been reading for a bit and this is my first post. Our story started in March but we didn't know what it was until June (although we suspected PANS in May....) but getting to the point of this post: In addition to antibiotics (z and minocycline) and CBT/ERP, I have taken my dd to a homeopathic doctor who does allergy and sensitivity testing and treatments via acupressure. He found her to have a copper sensitivity and the treatment for this seems to have helped tremendously. It appears that her body was reacting to the heavy metal form of copper and this was dragging down her immune system. to read about the treatment, it is similar to what these companies offer": www.allergytx.com www.NAET.com I know it sounds kooky, but what doesn't at this point, right?!? She had a diagnosed (and treated) bout of strep in January, she had many fevers/viruses through the rest of Jan, Feb and March. She also had orthodontic braces put on in February. I suspect that although the braces do not list copper as an ingredient, perhaps there are 'traces' of copper in them. I just wonder if the they did not contribute to her onset of PANS in March. Has anyone else had this type of testing/treatment or orthodontics near the onset?? Sincerely, Theresa p.s. our good news is that she is doing GREAT. I pray that each one of you will have the same report and that all of us will reach and stay in the category of 100% recovered!!
Ozimum Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Hi Theresa, So glad to hear your dd is improving. And, having a copper imbalance is not kooky at all! Dr William (Bill) Walsh is a medical researcher who has been looking at copper/zinc ratios for something like 30 years. Have a look at this site and scroll down to watch the video on copper/zinc http://www.walshinstitute.org/Video.asp He is one of the original DAN! drs and does alot to educate medical practitioners across the world in the advances in biomedicine. A DAN dr would have tested your daughter's zinc and copper levels. (If copper was high, it's likely zinc was low.)
TheresaC Posted August 7, 2012 Author Report Posted August 7, 2012 Thanks for the video....I am learning a lot. Thankful for all the info.
