kos_mom Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 DD 19 has piled up a bunch of lab tests accumulated from the first week of May that I haven't been able to get her to the lab for. They now include all of the immunoligcal tests as well as the usual strep tests. I am hoping to get her to the lab this week as I am off. Yesterday she just finished a six day steroid burst for asthma. Would the steroid burst interfere with the results? Should I wait yet another week or two?
dcmom Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 I do think the steroids can affect some test results- esp immunological tests. Personally, I would wait at least 30 days before doing any testing that wasn't immediately needed.
kos_mom Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 Dcmom, Thanks for the quick reply--do you think the lab would be helpful? She need some liver function tests and perhaps I could go ahead with that and ask their view on testing for the other tings.
Kiera Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 I would say check with the Dr that ordered them. The lab people probably wouldn't know (and wouldn't be a reliable source anyway, they're just techs)Also they wouldn't want to be liable for giving out the wrong info and possibly altering a diagnosis! Good luck.
kos_mom Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks--I did check with the doctor--she said it was fine to go ahead with the test.
