bulldog24 Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 so ind on 31 and 41? and pos on 45? It doesnt look bad. 31 is specific for Lyme. Ind is like "almost positive, not quite" the other bands are not specific to Lyme. So my gut says retest in a couple months. augmentin should cover the Lyme if its there as long as the aug is a treatment dose. you could always add zith and see what happens. recheck it and see if that IND changes to positive or anything else pops up that is my non MD opinion
LNN Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 Tiffany, The Band 31 makes me go "hmmm" - but you need to put it into the bigger clinical picture. Since DD just had IVIG, this will be hard to assess. So I guess I'd keep an eye on things. If this last IVIG gets her to a good place and she stays there, then just keep it in the back of your mind. But if 8-12 weeks pass and she starts slipping again, give the Band 31 a little more weight. PANDAS and the neuropsych symptoms of lyme overlap enormously, at least in my experience. So for now, it's something to keep an eye on, maybe read up on lyme a bit in the event you recognize a few symptoms that didn't fit neatly into Pandas (e.g. muscle pain, headaches - stuff that you may have dismissed as too vague). If you get tired of reading about Pandas, pick up a copy of Cure Unknown by Pam Weintraub. You'll see eerie similarities between lyme wars and Pandas wars. But for now, with the IVIG so recent, I think this becomes a wait and see thing. JMHO. Laura
minimaxwell Posted July 8, 2012 Author Report Posted July 8, 2012 Thanks so much , I trust and value your opinions always. they one thing that seems hard to kick is the massive fatigue, which makes me think LYME. Is it too soon to test for Babesia,Bartonella and erlichia titers? We have an appt with Dr jones in a few weeks. I made it months ago just in case--I really don't want to spend the time and money if it is not absolutly nessecary. First lVlG was 3/16, these labs were drawn on 6/26 BEFORE 2nd lVlG. She takes Augmentin 500mg BID, we can't do azith because it bothers her stomach. She took 10 days of Doxy after first lVlG just to cover for MycoP.

I totally understand not wanting to waste time and money, BUT, lyme is a clinical dx, and in the end, it really may not be necessary to do any more tests Dr. Jones should be able to figure it out based on the clinical symptoms at this point, just like our LLMD did for us (turned out family was dealing with a whole bunch of co-infections, and we never knew it.) Based on our LLMD's questions, then starting treatment, and the results (including bad problems,) he figured it out, and we have now been treating for 2 years (for lyme and co-infections, in addition to 4+ years PANDAS), and are now starting to see results. I think it's well worth keeping that appointment. I really think you'll kick yourself more with the "what if" questions, particularly since he's so hard to get an appointment with. Good luck.
