beeskneesmommy Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 Has anyone had experience with or heard about using B3 for a Niacin flush? I guess you use a higher dosage x 2, about 12 hours apart and it has improved symptoms for some kiddos?
MichaelTampa Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 I have used it for my lyme disease. It is good for detox, but also has antibiotic properties. I use between 500mg and 2000mg doses.
beeskneesmommy Posted June 3, 2012 Author Report Posted June 3, 2012 Wow! I read 100 at night and another 100 the next morning. do you need those high doses to produce the flush? I also heard that it seems to improve joint pain (I am thinking of doing this myself to see if it manages a knee joint problem). No Lyme here, but what do you think?
LNN Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 We used niacinamide instead of regular niacin. Supposedly niacinamide doesn't produce a flush. Are you trying to produce a flush? I'm confused. FWIW - I was struggling with knee pain and hip pain. My naturopath recommended Omega 3s or flaxseed oil. I'm taking 1300 mg flaxseed/Evening Primrose Oil and the pain has reduced significantly (gone from knee, much better in hip). Naturopath said to think of it as grease for the ball bearings in the joints. Resveratrol also helped with inflammation issues.
MichaelTampa Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 I've never read temp during that process, so I don't know that.
nursejeannie Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 I have had adult patients that take Niacin for cholesterol issues say that apricots help decrease or eliminate the flush. Otherwise Niaspan is less likely to cause flush.
