deagar
My son has a few different tics and when he has tested positive to strep, the same one tic went wild both times. Has anyone else ever experienced the same thing where one certain tic responds more to strep than any others? It may just be a coincidence. This may not be a PANDAS question but I wanted to do the Immunolab blood test for food sensitivity and thought it ran $300 but when my naturopath doctor checked into it, she said it was $600. Has anyone had this done recently or do you think she got the quote for the FULL testing including environmental instead of just food? kim
Deagar, I can't say that I have ever noticed the same tic in regards to strep, but with my boys, their tics are fairly limited. Our most common tic with oldest was head shaking, youngest ...blinky, shoulder shrugger, occasional head shaking. My boys were usually "still" during the worst part of an illness. It seems like the tics would flair as they started to recover. I believe this is the # for Immuno 1-800-231-9197. Just give them a call and ask about pricing. You might not want to mention a Dr. at all. Just tell them you need a description of the test and the price. They get in an awkward position, if a Dr. has quoted you a mark up price. I suspect your're going to find that the price you were quoted is for a more extensive test than the most basic test offered, if I remember right, and Lord knows that can't be counted on! deagar
Thanks for the info. I did email the company regarding tests and prices and they emailed back stating that a doctor needs to call and order tests and get pricing information and they get the doctors credentials etc. so I don't believe I can get any info on my own. deagar
Deanna, Hope this helps Scroll about 1/3 of the way down to Delayed food allergy testing http://www.directlabs.com/testtypes.php#immunolab more info here http://www.directlabs.com/ImmunoLabs.php Kim: I checked out the website and there was another test that caught my eye. Do you know the difference between the Delayed Food Allergies Test (Pediatric) fro $499 (that is 1/3 way down that page) or the Food Allergies IgG 1 & 4 for $249 (that is 1/2 way down that page)? Also, would the "prick" food allergy tests give any of the same results or are we looking for something different when it relates to tics? Claire
I paid $300 for the Immunolabs IgG test ~ 1 year ago. Then our DAN doctor switched to ElisaAct for the IgG test for $300. I liked this one better because it also included gluten/casein for the same price. Plus you could get more...food coloring, etc. Not sure what I paid for the whole package Comprehensive Analyses Block Food Environmental Chemical Mold* Additive/Preservative Food Coloring Toxic Mineral/Metal TOTAL ElisaAct gave me prices over the phone, though clearly a doctor would order it. 800.553.5472 Call them, because depending on how you order the tests (individually versus as a package) I remember they cost a lot more. I doubt fees have doubled. http://www.elisaact.com/pdfs/EAB_Combos_NonHP.pdf Good luck, Claire
kim
Deanna, I think the difference that your seeing is more foods and the Dr. consult basically. DLS Price $546 115 foods 20-30 minute Consultation with Dr. #2. IgG Food Antibodies IgG1 & IgG4- Serum $249.00 measures the sum of IgG1 and IgG4 levels in serum that react to 90 different foods Again, if you have any questions, I would call them. Be sure to check out the site Claire mentioned too. She has more experience with these tests than I do. I think the 2nd part of your post is what Claire and I were both trying to get at! Most reg allergist only check for IgE or immediate reactions, which is what the skin prick will show. These blood test give you the delayed IgG reactions. If the immune system is being taxed by either one (IgE or IgG reactions), it can contribute to tics, along with an imbalace in gut flora or damage to the lining, which allows the food particles to enter the blood stream in the first place, due to yeast overgrowth and a more permeable intestinal tract. Some people have a problem with an overgrowth of bacteria, and not yeast, but that's a different test/subject. On this site, scroll down to "What is Candida" for more info. http://www.rainbowminerals.net/candida.htm My sons showed NO reaction to foods with skin pricks, except mild peanut for youngest. Kim Claire, I take it these tests will show gluten and casein containing food reactions, but are not showing the status of reaction to the specific protein? Claire
Hi Kim, Thanks for posting the Immunolab info, I couldn't find it on my old test. In addition to testing for foods (that could contain gluten or casein), Elisa Act 'food 142' tests specifically for IgG reaction specifically to the gluten and casein, meaning the proteins. The food 115 only includes casein, not protein. ElisaAct also told me that the Immunolab test also showed PAST reactions to foods that the person might not still be sensitive too, and does not delineate. I called the Immunolabs doctor to see if this were true and they told me yes that was true. Thus both tests are fine, but my doctors preference now for the ElisaAct one. My son showed fewer sensitivities there, but not sure how much was improvement, or that the ElisaAct test only showed current sensitivities. But I didn't like the idea of overrestricting him. People need to call to verify this...for all I know, Immunolab has changed their test in 2 years. Claire ps Thanks again for the mercury urine info. I will definitely contact them! I have info from immunolab but if I am going to pay to have this done, I want to get the most highly reccommended one. Can you help direct me on this?
