Steroid burst in crisis

What is the dosage you've done for steroid burst in crisis? Has it helped and how long did it take?

 

I'm sure I know this, but my head is spinning with a crisis right now and I need info. TIA

Oral? 60mg x7d 40x7 20x7 10 x 7

Takes my girls about two weeks to really help.

IV?

There is all sorts of doses; some doctord are really hesitant to go above 1or 2 mg/kg. we have found much higher doses much better, however, my children are very responsive to steroids

Also I think decadron may better than solumedrol in some cases.

I am so sorry you are in crisis.

 

We have found IV solumedral at 7mg/kg every 12 hours for at least 2 doses to be the most beneficial form of steroid for crisis.

 

We have used the dose pow pow suggested (that would be my 11yr olds month long taper dose)- but have had mixed results when truly in crisis (major, debilitating, ocd and friends)- that Rx has worked better for us in a more moderate flare up.

IV steroids are best. Solumedral.

Hi - we've done 60mg for 5 days and had great results each time. 100% sustained remission first time, with improvement within 12 hours of the first dose and about 90% remission the second time, again, with noticeable improvements within 12 hours.

No advice, but lots of prayers that the crisis passes quickly.

when my son was in his 1st crisis we did 100mg one pill onces a day for 5 days next time we did a 3 weeks taper 80mg for 7days, 40mg for 7days and 20 mg for 7 days.

With the 5 day burst we didn't start seeing results till day 5 and it lasted about 20days before symptoms started to show again.

 

With the 3 week taper we started seeing results around day 5 again.. he was good the whole time on them and for 6 1/2 weeks off them... Then he got sick. he got sick on Wed of this week and all his big jerking and violent tic sort of movments came back full force.. I got him to the pedi that day because he was sick stomach hurting, feeling like throwing up, coughing, nose stuffed up and all the PANDAS symptoms flaring The pedi put him on 50mg of steroids one pill for 5 days.

and when I got in contact with Dr T.. he put him back on treatment dose antibiotics for the next 10 days. so hopefully that will do the trick..
