Our purpose here is not to claim these associations are proven, but rather to report preliminary results and show that easily testable polymorphisms are available.

Our results suggest that an adapted diet containing specific long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, prebiotics and probiotics can revert the negative imprinting of neonatal stress on both intestinal barrier function and growth.

*****Might this suggest that an imprint is formed, instead of a short term event, when there is a disruption during the neonatal period?******
