My ds9 was having trouble swallowing. He had a sore throat. After being on a high dose azithromyin for a few days, my ds9 started having abdominal pain, and trouble urinating. When we did the urine sample, I got really freaked out when I saw that his urine was orange, with brown sediment at the bottom, so I stopped the liquid azithromyin after 3 days.

He continually had day time urinary frequency. We did 3 urine test results: one at the local hospital through his ped, one at the children's hospial, and one through a walk in clinic. The results were all about 3 days apart,a nd they all showed that he had enteroccoccus in his urine. His pediatrician said that it didn't make sense that he had an infection, bc he didn't have a fever. So, he did another urine test, and this time, the hospital asked that he use one of those wipes b4 giving a midstream sample. According to the secretary, his test is normal. I will find out for sure with the doctor when we see him in 2 days.

A few days after stopping the azithromycin bc I was so scared, sadly, ds9 started worrying that his bladder was going to burst, and he would pee all the time, to the point where he was going every 5 minutes. His teacher was very understanding, bc she is just this great teacher in general. Also, he started peeing in his pants with little droplets, when he couldn't get to the bathroom on time, such as during recess, or while playing ice hockey. Suddenly my kid started seeing peeing in his pants, with little pees, as the way to go, to prevent his bladder from exploding.

It looks like any story they hear from the past, can haunt them when they are going through their pandas thing. A while ago, a local radio station had some kind of contest where the contestants had to drink as much water as possible, and the person who could hold it the longest without urinating, won the prize. As it turned out, that is not a good thing to do. So, one teenager died as a result. Well, don't you know it, that I told him this story last year, just as conversation, and then.... he suddenly got stuck with the idea that his bladder will burst.

I think that it going away now. It took a while though.

He also thinks that he is going to die. He says that every day he wonders if he is going to die, because he keeps getting all of these sicknesses. Oh boy.

He got this rash on his hand that started out as big as a toonie/loonie, and then spread to both hands. It itches, and is crusty. I am wondering if the doctor prescribes some kind of cortisteroid cream, will it increase his tics. Oh yes... he also started with these Hmmmmm ticks clearing his throat all the time, and he says that his body feels like twitching.

Any thoughts about the rash or stopping the azith early?

Sweet cheeks- I guess I would get him to the doctor. The rash could be several things, and possibly even related to strep. Did your son have strep or a sore throat. If you do think he had strep I would be very concerned about having stopped the abx early. I would try to get him on at least a full course of something like zithromax or omnicef.

I would also consider a week of regular advil dosing, and seeing about finding a good therapist to do ERP for the ocd.

Good luck!

As far as the rash on the hands, have you looked in hand/foot/mouth disease? I think it's also called Coxsackie disease.

And as far as the fever with strep goes, my daughter never got a fever when she had strep, and each time she tested positive on the rapid strep test, so you can absolutely have strep with no fever. Her doctor actually made a point of telling me this. (Cultures were always positive went sent out, too, although it got to a point where the doctor just stopped sending them out because she always had strep.)

My ds9 went thru something similar all of Oct-Dec 2011. He worried daily he was going to die even from swallowing toothpaste accidentally. He was on azithro at the time for 9 months never could get him in remission just holding stable. In January, the neuro switched him to PennVK he went into remission on day 3 and is still holding strong. He talks openly know about his past fears and pandas. He says he knows that all those thoughts, rituals were his brain playing tricks on him. He still sees a child psychologist and is really back to enjoying his life.

I guess my only advice is Pandas needs antibiotics in my opinion and finding the right one is key. I held strong with Azithro as the drug of choice and it never did for my son what PennVK did. So you may want to try another.

By the way my son had the same tic throat clearing issue for nearly 15 months.
