NMom Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 We are just beginning our journey into the world of Lyme...got our positive Lyme test a few weeks ago. We live in TX and as far as I know there are no LLMDS here. The upside of that is that we will have to travel so could go anywhere. It would be easiest to go to the east coast but not mandatory. I'd love some suggestions on LLMDs based on personal experience. Right now I'm leaning towards dr. Moorecroft in CT. Dr. jemsek in DC would be easier for me to get to but don't know anything about him. Please PM me if you have any thoughts...good or bad...on LLMDs. Thanks!
aidansmom Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 We go to Jemsek clinic and I will PM you info
sf_mom Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) There are some wonderful Dr.'s located in CA and at least 4 fantastic LLMDs in the Bay Area. Each treats slightly differently but all are good. One treats strictly with pharmaceuticals and does a ton of testing for co-infections all throughout treatment. He has written extensively on specific tests like the CD57. The other 3 Dr's are integrative and will investigate many aspects of immune dysfunction (viruses, mold, heavy metals, assist with detox, gut issues, look for additional parasites, address lympathic/adrenal/thyroid issues, look at histamines/other vitamin/mineral/enzyme deficiencies, KPU, etc) and will treat with herbs and homeopathic remedies along side antibiotics. They will help investigate even when Lyme is not involved. All of them are seeing children with PANDAS/PANS like on-set. A couple of these doctors will be speaking at ILADS this year and the plenary sessions 'should be' broadcast live via the internet on Friday and Saturday. I am continuing to watch for video link and will post it when available. These talks would give you a great overview of chronic issues and how some of these Dr.'s approach treatment. A couple Dr.'s that are speaking are the following. Friday: 1:30pm-2:15pm Co-Infections — Christine Green, MD Located in Los Altos, CA 'Bay Area' and shared practice with Dr. Patel... There are a few from the forum seeing Dr. Patel. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Dr. Christine Green and Dr. Patel and their successes in treating LD. 4:15pm-5:00pm Ask the Expert — Joseph Jemsek, MD and Bernard Raxlen, MD Saturday: 9:15am-9:30am Lyme disease and PANDAS — Hanna Rhee, MD is located in Carlsbad, California and Hawaii. I do not know of anyone seeing her but she is often referenced. Her website is very interesting http://sites.google.com/site/hannarheemd/our-services ILADS Conference information http://www.ilads.org/lyme_programs/lyme_events.html Of course there are other Dr.s and would be happy to provide more extensive information on them privately if you interested and want to head this way. Some of us even see more than one LLMD each contributing in their unique way in hopes of long term success. Other great speakers at ILADS this year; Joseph J. Burrascano, Jr., MD (does not currently treat), Richard I. Horowitz, MD (located in NY), Steven Bock, MD (located in NY), Charles Ray Jones, MD (located in CT) -Wendy Edited October 26, 2011 by SF Mom
JuliaFaith Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 You may want to PM EMersonAilidh on this forum who also lives in Texas, I believe.
