Wilma Jenks Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Things are improving slightly with my girl, but she is still really stuck. She just stares at the same movie all day long. Sleep, OCD and being able to shower improved though. But there is no way I can get this kid to school. She is still VERY ill. She is 12 and has been sick since birth. We have been doing the bactrim and minocycline for almost 3 months. I guess it could take years for someone that was sick for so long, right?
SSS Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 (edited) ****Edited: OOOPS! I responded to your other thread! About getting bit in 1960. How embarrassing. Brain fog happening! I know the anxious feeling of waiting for your test results. Sending PV's for you. Many of 'us', I am reading, don't remember an actual time of being bitten. I have wracked my brains myself- can't figure it out. Grew up in MN, my mother said she pulled ticks from my head (don't remember) hiked the summers in Colorado and Utah as a kid, moved to the bay area CA when 18, as an adult, used to take hikes by myself all over the bay area. Never, ever remember pulling off a tick. 14 years ago, I lived in a bay area town backed up to mountain-ous hills, which used to be an old fishing village, with a huge feral cat population- there was a mother cat with little babies I spent a month trying to feed and tame outside my door, picked up the kittens, got scratched, may have gotten bitten. My DH tells me not to dwell on these things. But those cats stick out in my mind. I flash on them daily. We don't own pets, I have no desire too, and the woods in which I used to find great solace in, no longer appeal to me in any way, shape, or form. I even stick to my residential streets now when I walk. Anyway, I am in treatment for Bartonella. The thing to hang onto: this can really improve the quality of our (my) life in the future. This is the good news. A better quality of life. Edited September 11, 2011 by S & S

Per Dr. J.; 1-3 years is typical. My son will be completing a year of treatment soon. On the positive side, he did not test positive for Lyme or bartonella on the results we just got back. His OCD, ticcing and dystonia are hanging on though. A typical day for my 13 year old son is watching TV or playing games on the computer. He does go to school and seems to be doing well. Two years ago we were not sure he was going to finish one grade or be able to start the next (our summer from #e!!). You and your girl are on a long journey but at least you are on the journey now. bill
