Hi Mom-

 

Just curious how your son has been. I have read your posts with much interest and hope your son's vocal tic is waning....My son has had an array of tics the past 6 weeks pretty consistently. He is 8 and a half. Up until this point his TS has been fairly mild like your guy.

Hi Mommy 11. Thanks for your concern. We are taking it day by day. Things are getting a little better due to the elimination of caffine and most sugars, and I hope the supplements are starting to kick in. Some days are better than others. The shouting is still so loud that you can hear him from the house when he is playing outside, but it seems to be a little less frequent. I'm hoping a long weekend will do him good. These days I'm scared anything will trigger something. I have started him on Carnosine which I continue to read positive things about.

 

I hope your son gets better. It is good that you caught them at an earlier age than we did. Although my son had tics when he was 8, they were just so mild, no one paid attention. It is horrible timing for his shouting tics. There is just no hiding them, and middle school is cruel enough without being different. Hopefully, you can find what works for your son before the challenge of middle school. Although school at any age can be a little stressful. When my son was 8 he had a tic that sounded like a hiccup. It seemed to have only lasted a couple of months. I hope your little guy is on the home stretch. Take care and God bless.
