justinekno Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) I took my older son to an orthopedic dr the other day because he has been having pain in his knees (he plays college basketball) and the dr told us it was probably "jumper's knee" but that he wanted to do a Lyme test to rule Lyme out. Said he has recently stumbled upon a couple of patients with positive Lyme tests so now this is his standard for patients complaining of pain. It's not the best that he's relying on the CDC tests but I was encouraged that he is at least thinking Lyme. We've been to a lot of ortho Dr's and have never had Lyme suggested before. MichaelTampa Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 oh okay, I guess, yes, something there to be thankful for
Suzan Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Wow, that's good. I was diagnosed as a kid with "loose kneecaps". I was in a lot of pain for a couple of years and had to wear tight bands on my knees if I had to do any walking. I wonder if I had a doc who knew about lyme way back then if I would have been diagnosed. Pretty sure I had it at the time. But the doc said I'd grow out of it and I did so who knows! Although my knees do hurt again, 30+ years later Susan
justinekno Posted July 1, 2011 Author Report Posted July 1, 2011 Hmm. That's interesting. The dr also said since my other son and I both had Lyme, it increased the reasons to test him. I think his issue is more basketball related but he has an appt with our dr for a full blood work up next week, just to be sure. Wow, that's good. I was diagnosed as a kid with "loose kneecaps".
