problemsolver Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I'd like to avoid having to get my son in for multiple blood draws by getting a prescription for those tests typically given for those with suspected PANDAS. I've got a prescription for a CMP, CBC, Anti Double-stranded DNA Antibody -EIA Antistreptolysin O, and a draw for Cunningham's lab (my doctor wasn't aware that Cunningham wasn't doing the testing at present). For those of you seeing an immunologist, what additional blood testing have they done or recommended? Did they do them at the same time? I realize we'll need follow ups down the road. Results from 2 years ago were negative - for dsDNA testing ... 0, ASO result ... <20.0 Thanks Dave
Tamistwins Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Hi Dave, I'm sure others will chime in but I would test mycoplasma pnemonia igg and igm ,streptozyme, anti dnase b, ebv, Lyme western blot, pneumococcal titers, igg subclass, Ige level, igg, iga, igm levels. All the best, Tami
kimballot Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) I agree with Tami and I would add C3D immune complexes and IgA subclasses Depending on your child's symptoms, you may want to ask for thyroid tests (TSH, T4, T6). Also, if your child has been on medication for a while, you may want to have liver functions tested - Actually, it may be a good idea to have baseline liver functions tested even if your child is not on medication yet ... if you are anticipating long term antibiotics - AND if your child has enough blood available after all the other tests!. lfran Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Is your doc confusing the double stranded DNA with the DNASE antibody for strep? I think the former is for lupus and the latter is for strep/PANDAS. One of our docs made that mistake once. problemsolver Posted June 9, 2011 Author Report Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) Ok, my DAN doctor wrote the test name wrong "Anti DNAse Ab" and the lab read it as "DNA AB" and ran the test for lupus, not the test for strep. The lab didn't check with the doctor, and the doctor didn't catch the mistake when reviewing the lab results. Great...so we have no results for Anti DNAse B, when it might have shown up 2 years ago and we could have started treatment, presuming elevated levels. Thanks for the heads up.
